In order to get acne help, remember, the more information you know about your skin, the better off you will be in having a clear complexion. Age is not a sure guarantee against pimples or acne. Although more common in teenagers than any other age group, acne can occur at any time in life. The causes are still not completely understood. A number of factors seem to have an effect, including genetics, hormones, physiology, stress and use of certain cosmetics. This type of acne ranges from a few isolated spots to severe breakouts, which can sometimes leave unsightly scars.

Acne is often exacerbated in winter and improved in summer, probably because of the sun’s beneficial effect. Acne most commonly occurs where the sebaceous glands are most active for instance, on the face, neck, chest and back. There are different types of blemishes, Blackheads, whiteheads, cysts and Papules.

Whiteheads form when oil and dead cells accumulate and block the pores from opening onto the surface of the skin. Blackheads are a plug of dried fatty matter capped with blackened dust and epithelial debris that clogs a pore of the skin. Blackheads are similar to whiteheads, except the blocked material protrudes above the skin, dilating the pore. The black color is due to the oxidization process that occurs within the follicle. If left alone, blackheads will simply stay in the skin. Remove them by gently steaming the area and then easing the plug out. Don’t be tempted to remove skin impurities by harsh squeezing or without preparing your skin first or scaring may occur.

Cysts occur when inflammation spreads deep into the skin. To contain it, the cells automatically form a fibrous capsule around it. Cysts usually need to be surgically removed. Papules are inflammation under the skin. When the sebum build up becomes too much, the follicle expands and eventually bursts, releasing the sebum and dead cell build up onto the surface of the skin. White blood cells then attack this material, forming pus.
